Program Overview

Control Union Certifications Germany offers SMETA (Sedex Member Ethical Trade Audit) auditing, a method developed by the multi stakeholder consultation initiative, Sedex. SMETA’s role is to align social audit standards and monitoring practices, to ease the auditing burden on suppliers by sharing reports and driving improvements in supply chain labour standards.

The RCS Blended Standard verifies the presence and percentage of recycled content in the final product. This is done through an audit of the input materials and the supply chain by an independent body. It enables a transparent, consistent, and comprehensive independent assessment and verification of the recycled content claims on products. Control Union Certifications BV is accredited by SLAB for this program under registration number CP 004-01.

The Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS) provides an opportunity for farmers to demonstrate their best practices to the public, and a means for brands and consumers to have the certainty that the alpaca fiber products they buy and sell are in line with their values. Control Union Certifications BV is accredited by SLAB for this scheme under registration nr. CP 004-01.

The Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS) provides an opportunity for farmers to demonstrate their best practices to the public, and a means for brands and consumers to have the certainty that the mohair products they buy and sell are in line with their values. The TAPA certification is a security standard designed to reduce cargo theft and helps how to properly secure a company’s transportation and logistics. TAPA is more and more required by shippers, banks and insurance companies seeking to minimize cargo losses.

Sustainable Regenerated Cellulosics Content Standard (SRCCS) formerly recognized as Sustainable Viscose Chain of Custody Standard (SVCOC), was initially crafted by Control Union Certifications (CUC) in 2020, with collaborative backing from the renowned global brand C&A.

The organisation IVN (Internationale Verband der Naturtextilwirtschaft e. V.) was founded in 1999 and has developed two quality seals: Naturtextil IVN certified BEST and Naturleder IVN certified. Control Union Certifications is officially approved by the IVN as an inspection and certification body for the Naturtextil and Naturleder IVN certified BEST standards.

The SFA’s Sustainable Cashmere Standard was established to tackle sustainability challenges in the production of cashmere, in particular: the welfare of the goats, the environmental impact of farming them and the social welfare of the herders who look after them
