flustix LESS PLASTICS Packaging

flustix LESS Plastics Packaging is a consumer seal that certifies low-plastic packaging. It exclusively certifies the packaging of a product and has no requirements for the product itself. Particularly in industries where the complete elimination of plastic is not feasable, this seal provides proof of the responsible use of plastic.

    About the standard

For successful LESS PLASTICS Packaging certification, the packaging must be at least 95% plastic-free. The threshold value is based on the requirements of the PPWR ( Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) and expands the sustainability perspective to include a functioning circular economy. With this program, companies can transparently demonstrate to stakeholders that they are saving plastic in their packaging and are consequently having a positive impact on the environment.

    The label

Packaging that bears the LESS PLASTICS seal may be disposed of and recycled in the main material component’s recycling stream. In order to promote innovation, a three-stage evaluation system is used to indicate a plastic-free rate of at least 96.5% and 98% on the certificate and seal.

    Why flustix certification?

Learn what makes flustix LESS PLASTICS certification stand out.

The seal is issued in cooperation with accredited certification and testing partners such as Control Union in an independent third-party system.

The certification program is based on international and national standards and is constantly being updated in accordance to them. In this way, flustix certification supports companies in complying with relevant and emerging EU regulations, such as PPWR or the Green Claims Directive.

The flustix certification incorporates rigorous laboratory tests and a certification process developed in collaboration with over 50 independent specialist bodies and clearly stands out from commercial self-declarations.

    The certification process

Any product can qualify for the flustix LESS PLASTICS seals by undergoing a multi-step evaluation process. Manufacturers wishing to label their products with a flustix LESS PLASTICS seal must submit product samples and relevant data to flustix and our independent partner laboratories. These laboratories analyze the samples using advanced testing methods to identify the plastic content. The results of this analysis serve as the basis for determining seal eligibility, with final certification issued by accredited partners like Control Union.
