You are a restaurant, caterer, canteen or food truck? Then you belong to the out-of-home catering (“AHV”) sector and must be certified in accordance with the new regulation if you want to make an organic claim.
About the standard
Until now, out-of-home catering (“AHV”) businesses in the organic sector have been subject to the German Organic Farming Act (Ökolandbaugesetz). The new version has been effective since summer 2023 and the AHV sector is now regulated in a separate regulation.
Organic AHV logos
Depending on the organic content ratio, you can label your sustainable catering offer with the organic AHV logo in bronze, silver or gold. Consumers can recognize the organic content immediately and can select dishes with organic ingredients. The regulation is intended to create an incentive for an increased organic product mix.
Differences in logos
The biggest difference is the elimination of the goods flow calculation and the associated lower documentation effort. Fundamentals such as the separation and labeling of organic and conventional goods in the warehouse, the verification of supplier certificates and the training of employees remain in place.
